Brief History of Colbert County
Colbert County is situated in Alabama. It was created out of Franklin County. Tuscumbia is the county seat of Colbert County. Colbert County was originally founded on February 6, 1867, but it was abolished eight months later. Colbert County split from Franklin County due to political issues after the American Civil War. Colbert County was reestablished on February 24, 1870, after it had been abolished by an Alabama constitutional convention.
