Brief History of Geneva County
Located in Alabama, Geneva County was founded on December 26, 1868 by the Alabama Legislature. It was created out of Coffee County, Dale County, and Henry County. The community of Geneva is the county seat of, and the largest city in Geneva County. When the county was created it took the name of the largest settlement in the area. The City of Geneva was founded by Henry Yonge, who named it after his wife’s hometown in New York.
