Brief History of Alamo, CA
People have lived in Alamo for over 5,000 years. Originally inhabited by the Tatcan Indians and Miwok tribe. Another tribe that lived in Alamo was the Saclans of Walnut Creek. After Mission San Jose was founded, it became a grazing area around the year 1797, which took up most of the San Ramon Valley. A grant, which was named San Ramon Rancho, was given to Mariano Castro to farm. The area that Castro owned is now known as Danville and Alamo.
