Brief History of Arcadia, CA
Over 3,000 years ago is when the Tongva/Gabrielino Native Americans settled in Arcadia. They were attracted to the rich, ripe Southern California land which was perfect to hunt and gather. Hugo Reid was Arcadia’s first notable settler, who was deeded the land by the Spanish government. He was the first to make a modern impact in Arcadia by building the first structure and by stocking cattle.
