Brief History of Brisbane, CA
The small City of Bribane, located in California, is situated in the northern region of San Mateo County. Brisbane is on the northeastern edge of South San Francisco, next to the San Francisco Bay. The Costanoan Indians were the first to inhabit Brisbane. Spanish explorers arrived in 1776 and Franciscan missions followed leaving numerous land grants in their wake. Brisbane was part of Rancho Guadalupe la Visitacion y Rodeo Viejo. Due to Mexican rule, the lands controlled by the missions were released to private enterprises.
