Brief History of Burlingame, CA
Burlingame is a city in San Mateo County, California. Native Americans were the original inhabitants of the area we now know as Burligame. Wealthy residents from San Francisco settled Burligame because they were looking for a better climate for their second homes. A man named Jose Antonio Sanchez received the title to a land known as Rancho Buri Buri in 1821. The property stretched from San Bruno Mountain in the north to Sanchez Creek. Rancho San Mateo extended south of Sanchez Creek into what is currently northern part of the City of San Mateo. Burlingame was named after diplomat, Anson Burligame.
