Brief History of Byron, CA
Byron is a census designated area in Contra Costa County. Byron is the site of the historical Byron Hot Springs. The resort, which is now abandoned, attracted many athletes and movie stars at the beginning of the century. Because of lawsuits that were probably brought about by the Great Depression, the resort was forced to close in 1938. Between 1941and 1945, Byron was leased by the government and became a military interrogation camp called Camp Tracy. Due to specific orders the camp in Byron was dismantled.
