Brief History of Carpinteria, CA
The small oceanside City of Carpinteria is located in Santa Barbara County. Carpinteria is situated northwest of Ventura and east of Santa Barbara. The area was named Carpinteria due to a carpentry shop that the Chumash tribe had. Carpinteria has the availability of naturally-occurring surface tar, which was mainly used for the sealing of there boats. Carpinteria hosts the annual Avocado Festival, which takes place in October. Over 80,000 people attend the three-day festival that offers locally made products, along with avocado goods.
