Brief History of Century City, CA
Century City began to settle after the Fox Film Corporation moved its headquarters to the West. The first studio was established near Sunset Boulevard and Western Avenue in Los Angeles. The owner of the Fox Film Studio Corporation, William Fox, began his entertainment career by operating numerous nickelodeons in New York City. Fox ended the Thomas Edison’s film trust after winning a legal battle against the Motion Pictures Patent Company attempted to monopolize the budding film industry. The Hungarian immigrant, William Fox played a vital role in the acquisition of the area known as Century City.
