Brief History of Dublin, CA
For a long time, Dublin has been known as the “crossroads” of the Bay area. Although Dublin sits at the crossroads of the two major highways, the significance of its nickname dates back to over two hundred years ago. Dublin served as the crossroads of two imperative stage routes, one from the Bay area to Stockton and the other from Martinez to San Jose. A Mexican soldier named Jose Maria Amador received land for his years of service and for being administrator of Mission San Jose. The land grant included 16,517 acres in the Amador-Livermore Valley. Several adobe homes and buildings were created where Indian workers made soap, blankets, shoes, and farm tools for the rancho. Dublin continues to expand and enhance the quality of life for members of the community.
