Granite Bay is an unincorporated area along highway 80, just north of Roseville, California in Placer county. It sits on the main travelling route between Sacramento California and Reno Nevada. Granite bay is a community on the banks of Folsom Lake on the edge of the Sacramento Valley. The community was officially recognized as " Granite Bay" in 1987. There are approximately 20,000 people living in Granite Bay (according to the U.S. census of 2000) . The town is known for its recreational possibilities due to its location in the mountains and on the lake.
