Brief History of City of Industry, CA
In 1841, William and Nicolasa Workman emigrated to the City of Industry from Taos, New Mexico. Workman along with John Rowland led one of the first group of settlers to the area as they traveled by mule. They quickly established as cattle ranchers after they were granted the a piece of land. In the 1860’s there were numerous droughts and floods the ended cattle ranching in California. Thinking like an entrepreneur, William began work on wine production, by growing wheat and grapes in the area, including the City of Industry.
