Brief History of Inglewood, CA
The City of Inglewood is a city in Southwestern Los Angeles County, about 4.5 miles from Los Angeles airport. It is made up of 3 districts/neighborhoods: Crenshaw-Imperial, Morningside Park and North Inglewood. The early days of the city saw Inglewood as one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. Inglewood has a population of over 115,000 with approximately half of the city being of African-American decent. It is located just east of the 405 freeway between Hawthorne, Ca and Culver City. Although originally founded as a poultry and chinchilla ranching community, the city is now mostly known as a home to the Hollywood Park race track and casino. As for politics, Inglewood has been called the sixth most liberal city in the United States by the Bay area Center for Voting research.
