Brief History of La Mirada, CA
Ranked #34 by Money magazine as one of the best medium sized cities to live in, La Mirada continues to shine. Located off the 5 ( Santa Ana) freeway near the cities of Cerritos and Fullerton, La Mirada also boasts one of the lowest crime rates in the region. La Mirada is technically in Los Angeles County but is right on the border with Orange County. The city started out as a giant ranch called Windemere, but was subdivided into individual home sites in the early 1950s. There are approximately 47,000 residents in La Mirada, and the average income level of $61,000 is slightly higher than the average for Los Angeles county. The city is probably best known for the La Mirada Theater for the performing arts, which produces several Broadway type plays each year.
