Brief History of La Quinta, CA
La Quinta is a city in Riverside County. Captain Juan Bautista De Anza led a group of Spanish conquistadores to the establishment of La Quinta during the 18 th Century. The travelers used La Quinta as a fifth resting point along the route from Mexico to the San Gabriel Missions of Los Angeles and to Riverside and San Bernardino. La Quinta translates to the Spanish word for “the fifth.” The small community, located south of Palm Springs, was incorporated in 1982. Known as the “Gem of the Desert,” La Quinta enjoys a year-round of sunny, blue skies.
