Brief History of Lemon Grove, CA
Lemon Grove is located in the middle of a triangle formed by San Diego, El Cajon and La Jolla California. Although founded by a sheep rancher, in 1860, Lemon Grove was also known in the second half of the 1800s for a myriad of agricultural crops and for its poultry production. Lemon Grove, incorporated in 1977 is a general law city, largely governed by the laws of the State of California. Although started as an agricultural town, after World War II, almost all of the agricultural land was converted to residential development. Now, approximately 26,000 people live in Lemon Grove. A peaceful family atmosphere is created by the many parks churches and community facilities that are located in Lemon Grove.
