Brief History of Loomis, CA
Loomis, California is located on highway 80 in Placer County California just north of Roseville and Rocklin, but south of Auburn, California. Like most towns in the area, Loomis started in the 1850s California Gold rush, and today remains a quaint reminder of days gone by. It is an incorporated city of about 6,200 people. Loomis was named by one of its early founders, James Loomis. It is a relatively new city, incorporating in 1984 to avoid being annexed by Rocklin, California. Loomis is only 10 miles from Folsom Lake, and its quaint historic demeanor makes it an ideal bedroom community for workers commuting to Roseville or Sacramento.
