Brief History of Lucerne, CA
The city of Lucerne is located in Lake County. One of the earliest settlers in Lucerne was James Goulding and his family in the early 1900’s. Lucerne was considered a desert valley with the closest water source being in Cushenbury Springs. The first parts of the community were formed by the agricultural farms slong the central valley. Lucerne Valley is the pathway between Apple Valley, Barstow, Big Bear, Yucca Valley and Morongo Valley. Lucerne is still a rural desert area with the only source of utilities is power.
