Brief History of Norwalk, CA
The city of Norwalk is the 15 th largest city California. It is known to be the dairy “Heart of the Valleys” during the 1900’s. Norwalk became modernized during the first half of the 20 th century. Before that, the area was mostly sugar beet farms. Schools were constructed along with electrical and telephone poles. Statewide Markets were linked by railroads and highways. Norwalk is Los Angeles County’s 66 th city. By 1957 major improvements within Norwalk were in effect making Norwalk a modernized place to live.
