Brief History of Parlier, CA
The history of Parlier began in 1876, when the Parlier family migrated from Springfield, Illinois to present location of Parlier. The family opened a general store, a trading post, and a post office. They ran the wheat farms that were initially cultivated in the area. Wheat was soon replaced with grapes, raisins, and tree fruit. The arrival of the railroad and the improved irrigation systems contributed to the establishment of Parlier as a hub among its surrounding communities.
Incorporated in 1921, Parlier is nestled in Fresno County and houses approximately 12,167 residents. Parlier is situated 210 miles north of Los Angeles and 199 miles south of San Francisco. The temperate weather in Parlier allows for year round fishing, hunting, boating, camping, and hiking along the nearby Kings River.
