Brief History of Pinedale, CA
The unincorporated community of Pinedale is situated within the Fresno city limits in Fresno County. The once rural community is only six miles north of downtown Fresno, but has been absorbed by the city. Pinedale was the location of one of several temporary detention camps known as assembly centers. The detention camps housed thousands of residents of California of Japanese ancestry during WW II.
