Brief History of Poway, CA
Poway is East of Del Mar and South of Escondido in San Diego County, just a little south of the City of Oceanside, California. Poway began as an agricultural area, but it was not until the 1950s when water from the Colorado River was used, that farming in Poway began to blossom. In 1971 a dam was built and created Lake Poway, which created a permanent source of water for the residents of this city. Poway was incorporated in 1990 and officially changed its name to The City of Poway.
