The community of Prunedale is a census designated area in Monterey County. Plum trees grew in Prunesdale during the early days of its founding. The trees soon died out due to poor fertilizer and irrigation. Charles Langley, a Watsonville banker, was one of Prunedale’s earliest settler. He operated the Prunedale Post Office.
