Brief History of Rialto, CA
The City of Rialto is located in San Bernardino County. Ancient artifacts discovered by archaeologist suggest that the Serrano Indians lived in the Rialto, California between 1500 and 1800 A.D. Selected Spanish Dons were awarded with portions of the area in 1769 from the King of Spain. The Mountain family purchased Lugo Rancho, which is now San Bernardino, and claimed other portions that later became Rialto. The United States Government later disallowed the claim. Rialto became more populated around 1854 and its Chamber of Commerce established in 1907. Rialto officially incorporated in 1911.
