The City of Ridgecrest was formally known as Crumville. Ridgecrest is located in the northeastern region of Kern County. Ridgecrest was born when a military base located in Inyokern moved 12 miles to the east. Ridgecrest became the commercial support center for the base. Ridgecrest incorporated as a city in 1963.
