Brief History of San Clemente, CA
San Clemente was among the first master planned communities built from totally open land in the United States. It is located between Los Angeles and San Diego, and it is thought to be far enough from both cities to be able to maintain its personality. It is technically a city in Orange County California. San Clemente is located at the entrance to Camp Pendleton Marine Base, which gives the city a unique mix of military personnel and So Cal Beach lovers. San Clemente really got its start in 1925 when Ole Hansen bought 2,000 acres and created the first subdivision. San Clemente got another boost in 1969 when President Richard M. Nixon bought the so-called “Western White House”.
