Brief History of San Gabriel -
San Gabriel began in 1771, when Father Junipero Serra founded Mission San Gabriel Archangel. It is then that San Gabriel became established as the birthplace of the Los Angeles Region. The City of Los Angeles and the greater metropolitan area were established from San Gabriel, which was the original and oldest settlement north of San Diego and south of San Luis Obispo. By 1852 San Gabriel became one of the first townships in the Los Angeles County. The general law city of San Gabriel was incorporated on April 24, 1913. The community if bursting with diversity.
