Located on California highway 59 between Merced and Turlock is the community of Snelling. About 1,100 people live in Snelling. The climate in the summer is hot and provides a great environment for agriculture. Located by the Merced river, Snelling was a “river town” in the late 1800s, early 1900s. Then the trains came into Merced county, and many of the river towns lost their momentum.
