Brief History of Trinidad, CA
The Yurok Indians settled in Trinidad and its surrounding areas prior to any European settlement. The first European sighting of Trinidad was by the Portuguese navigator, Sebastian Rodriguez Cermeno. In 1775 the land now known as Trinidad was claimed for the King of Spain. Trinidad incorporated as a city in 1870.
