Brief History of Universal City, CA

Universal City is an unincorporated community in Northern Los Angeles County in the San Fernando region. Universal City is almost totally taken up by the movie studio/themepark called Universal Studios. Universal City purportedly stays unincorporated to minimize local taxes. Universal City started around 1915 when a German immigrant brought together several small movie studios to form Universal Studios, and started a rudimentary theme park to generate interest. In 2008 NBC studios is planning a move from Burbank to Universal City which will give this little community a big boost. The move is expected to cost over $800 million.
