Brief History of Victorville, CA
The City of Victorville is located in San Bernardino County. Victorville is situated 34 miles south of Barstow, 37 miles north of San Bernardino, 48 miles east of Palmdale, and 81 miles northeast of Los Angeles. Victorville is bordered by Adelanto on the west, Apple Valley on the east, and Hesperia on the south. Victorville was originally named Victor after the California Southern Pacific Railroad general manager, Jacob Nash Victor. The name was changed to Victorville because the United States Post Office Department wanted to avoid confusion with the community of Victor, Colorado. Victorville officially incorporated on September 21, 1962.
