Brief History of Vista, CA
Vista was incorporated into a city on January 28, 1963. Its name was really a second choice since the first choice for a post office name was Frazier’s Crossing but the post office already had a Frazier. Since the postmaster lived on Vista Way, he went with the obvious. Vista is directly east of Oceanside and north of Encinitas. The 92,500 people (approx.) living in Vista are a very diverse group. There are large populations of Japanese Americans, Jewish people and Hispanics living in Vista, California making it quite an eclectic city. Despite its name, Vista is not on the Pacific Ocean, but rather, seven miles inland.
