Brief History of New Hampshire-
New Hampshire is a state in the New England region of the northeastern United States of America named after the southern English county of Hampshire. On January 1776 it became the first post-colonial sovereign nation in the Americas when it broke off from Great Britain and was one of the original thirteen States. New Hampshire became the 9th state on June 21, 1788.
Hampton Beach is a popular local summer destination. About 10 miles offshore are the Isles of Shoals, nine small islands, the alleged location of one of the buried treasures of the pirate Blackbeard. The center of population of New Hampshire is located in Merrimack County, in the town of Pembroke.
New Hampshire has at least 30 private high schools and more than 150 public ones. Many of them serve more than one town. The largest public high school is Pinkerton Academy, in Derry, which is owned by a private non-profit.
New Hampshire is home to many county fairs, the largest being the Hopkinton State Fair, in Contoocook. One of New Hampshire's popular tourist destinations is the state’s lake region which contains many summer camps, especially around Lake Winnipesaukee.
